Getting Back into the Swing of Broadcast: Day 1

For the rest of this week during Newsroom, I’m working in the TV anchoring section. I haven’t worked with TV since the end of February so it’s tough getting back into the way things work. Day One has been slightly slow, since there isn’t much to work on yet. Tomorrow though, my classmate and I get a quick crash course on how the second year video cameras work, and then we’re being sent off to shoot an assignment.

Our assignment is to shoot the Loyalist College Open House, where high school students come in and look at program options. They’ll have the chance to meet students and talk with faculty, see displays highlighting programs the college offers, go on a tour of campus and the residence as well as a few other items on the agenda.

My classmate will be doing the filming and I will be talking to Loyalist students, faculty and the touring students. Today we spent a half hour or so going through the type of shots we need with one of our teachers and there’s a lot of work that’s going to be put into this shoot.
